Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine was born 1 June 1974, in Ottawa, Canada. Alanis' Greek name is an empathetic version of her father's name: Alan. There are two brothers: Chad (Alanis twin) and Wade. In the age of 6 she started learning to play the piano. At 21, she became at the age of 21, she began playing guitar. Alanis released a hit single from 1986 called Fate Stay With I (b Side: Find The Right Man). She recorded two albums as a dance-pop singer from Canada: Alanis (1991) and The Time Is The Time (1992). She relocated to Toronto when she was 18 and started working with musicians and writers, but the collaborations didn't work. Glen Ballard was the producer/songwriter she decided to go with in 1994. Glen has previously collaborated with Aretha Frankin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Strreisand. Following her move to LA her age was 19. on June 13, 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released on Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis came up with a method for making songs that are completely personal to her and based on her own life experiences. JLP had sold over 30 million copies across the globe which makes it the top-selling female album. The album is also the third most-loved album in history.
